To be in a relationship with someone is more than just sharing a bed. It's about sharing short term and long term goals, sharing and supporting each other's dreams. In life you will come to appreciate that there is a purpose for each person you meet. Some will test you, some will use you and some will teach you. But most importantly, some will bring out the best in you. Just because it didn't last forever, doesn't mean it wasn't worth your while. No one enters into a relationship with the idea of it ending, but sadly some do end. It is not enough just to know what makes a good relationship, but also how to have a good relationship that will last.

How To Build A Good Relationship

They say love is a "Relationship For Two", two different individuals who do not necessarily share the same ideas, enjoy the same things or even have the same emotional needs. Good relationships don't just happen, they take time, patience and two people who truly want to work at being together. A relationship does not necessarily require two persons that are alike, you could be completely different yet have the best relationship possible. What is important is being able to fulfill  each other's needs.

Compatibility does not mean you and your partner need to have everything in common, you should be able to complete each other. You can be everything he/she is not and vice versa, a couple should be able of enhancing each other as a person; lets say: completing you. Sounds like team work doesn't it? That’s actually what a relationship should be about, its not what you give or what you receive, its what you share. A man is everything a woman’s not and a woman is everything a mans not and without each other they will go through life feeling incomplete and no matter how successful you are as a person without that person with whom you can share that success with it all seems so meaningless, there will always be something missing.

How To Make The Relationship Work?

As is with the law of physics, opposites do attract. But how do you get your partner to do what you want, when you want? Actually! You don’t. Do not become possessive. The purpose of a relationship is to complement each other, grow together, and achieve your goals as individuals and your common goals as a couple. At the same time, you must each maintain your individual identity as a human being. And when conflicts arises yes they will, remember someone doesn't have to be wrong for you to be right. What’s crucial is doing what’s right for the other person.

The key to a long lasting relationship is communication, being open and truthful with each other from the get go. Often times at the beginning of a relationship each person put on a show, of someone they are really not, to impress the other person. And when the real you start to come out the complain is always, “ you've changed” when in fact that’s who you were all along. Be yourself, you are not perfect and you have gotten along with yourself from birth. So is a relationship, both should be able to get along flaws and all. Most times when couples break up the flaws are surprisingly what you miss the most.
A relationship is not easy, its very hard work just as a new born baby. It needs to be nourished, given a lot of attention until it grows. It does not just happen it takes time, patience and two people who truly want to be together. Both person growing together embracing each others flaws, shortcomings, likes and dislikes. But there will come a time when you've grown so much together that you have to wonder how you've survived before you met this person and how hard it will be to move on without what as now become the most important part of you. Bringing you a feeling no amount of money or expensive gifts can bring.

Relationship Tips

The small things means the most

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear or an honest compliment. Just knowing that you are the most important part of someone else’s life brings such a great feeling unmatched by anything. Don't take for granted the words that means so much and can make such a great difference. You know you love him, she know you love her. You told each other this morning but tonight hearing it again sounds and feels so much better. Reassurance is a very important factor the words: “I love you”, “you mean so much to me”, “you're all I need” on a regular basis can be the fuel to keep the relationship going.
